Shelton Taylor & Associates, Inc. is a full-service interior design firm that was started in 1991 by Judith Shelton. The firm initially focused on the multi-family industry but later diversified into single family model homes, clubhouses, and high-end residential.

We at Shelton Taylor feel that the Interior Design of a project is an integral part of a much larger picture, “the development of a community”. Through years of working with development and management companies we feel that our experience is beneficial in working as a team to build a community that stands apart from the competition.

Judith, Allied Member ASID, has over twenty years experience in the field of Interior Design.

In 1991 Judith started Shelton Taylor & Associates and has specialized in multi-family new development and renovation as well as high-end custom homes through-out the United States. Judith has worked extensively with developers and management teams to develop communities that convey a cohesive package that will attract the desired profile of the demographic area. Judy’s involvement in the process includes designing the interiors of the clubrooms, business offices and models as well as the selection of exterior finishes and the coordination of the signage and brochure designs for the communities. Judy’s commitment to staying in tune with the direction of design by attending various furniture shows and educational seminars throughout the year has proven beneficial in meeting or exceeding the client’s expectations.

Prior to forming Shelton Taylor & Associates, Judy was the Vice-President of Design Development for Krupp Realty Company in Boston, MA. She worked with a team of architects, engineers and management specialist to develop new communities as well as renovate existing properties to ensure that they were competitive with the surrounding market. Judy defined the specifications for all new development and renovation for a nationwide portfolio consisting of over 77 residential communities and commercial properties. Judy’s experience as a member of the development team of Krupp Realty gave her insight into the overall development process as well as the knowledge of the financial and budgetary challenges that owners and managers are faced with to create a desirable community.

Judy’s knowledge of the multi-family real estate business, her experience in various avenues of design and her personal commitment to customer service has been a winning combination for many years.

Katherine Leicht, IIDA, joined Shelton Taylor in early 2012. Her role in the company is to produce and oversee implementation and coordination for design documentation throughout all phases of the design process and construction administration. She is responsible for the collaborative efforts between all disciplines including architecture, landscape architecture, engineers, developers and contractors. Katherine is also heavily involved in the design process which includes designing the interiors of the clubrooms, business offices and models as well as the selection of interior finishes, for these spaces and the units. She also assists with exterior finishes and the coordination of signage and brochure designs for the communities in order to help create the overall look of the property.

In addition to the over 60 projects Katherine has worked on while with Shelton Taylor & Associates, she also received design experience through her two internships; one of which was at Stan Topol & Associates in Atlanta, Georgia, and Michaele Barrow Designs in Birmingham, Alabama. Her design experience included creating presentation boards, procuring 3-D computer generated models and elevations, developing various AutoCAD Architecture documents, and assisting in choosing design materials. Katherine was involved with a photo shoot for Birmingham Home & Garden magazine in August 2011.

Katherine is a graduate from The University of Alabama’s CIDA accredited interior design program with a bachelor’s degree in interior design, and had work selected for a CIDA Juried Student Design Show while enrolled. She is currently involved with the Georgia Chapter of IIDA.

Maggie Younghouse joined the Shelton Taylor team as a purchasing agent in February of 2015. Over the course of 2016, she transitioned into the role of designer where her primary responsibilities now include the selection and coordination of materials, fabrics and furnishings for amenity spaces and units as well as outdoor areas at each property, assembling presentation boards, producing AutoCAD files and computer generated 3-D models, developing client budgets and proposals and overseeing final installations.

Prior to joining Shelton Taylor & Associates, her experience included Planning Manager at a high-end residential firm located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Maggie’s predominant responsibilities in this position consisted of site visits and correspondence with clients, drafting plans in AutoCAD, coordinating with various government organizations to obtain permits, and ordering all cabinetry, tile, hardware and appliances for each job. Also during her time in Charlotte, Younghouse held a position as Purchasing Agent at a commercial hardware distributor. There, she was required to analyze data and advise on monthly purchasing needs, generate purchase orders, coordinate with over fifteen vendors overseas, and correspond with freight forwarders and brokers to ensure timely customs clearance and delivery of goods. This wide-range of skills has helped make Maggie a great fit for the Shelton Taylor team.

Maggie Younghouse graduated from The University of Alabama in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, a CIDA accredited program. She maintained status on the Dean’s List each semester which allowed her to receive Cum Laude honors. She was a member of both ASID and IIDA Student Chapters and took part in several continuing education opportunities during her time at UA.

Sherry Harrell joined Shelton Taylor in July of 2015. As a valuable member of the CAD department, she is primarily engaged in producing, overseeing, implementing and coordinating design documentation throughout each phase of the design process. Harrell is also involved in the initial selection of materials, finishes and fixtures for the offices, amenity spaces and models in each project. She collaborates with each discipline including architects, landscape architects, engineers, developers and contractors to ensure proper execution of the intended design during the construction process.

Prior to her employment with Shelton Taylor & Associates, Sherry worked for the Interior Design team at Lane Furniture designing and managing the construction of their freestanding retail stores. Her responsibilities included managing the progress and development of new stores from initial space planning and store layout to permitting, construction, and on-site store installation. Sherry also received valuable experience working for Ferry, Hayes & Allen Designers, a high-end Hospitality Design firm, in their Interior Drawings department. Harrell’s predominant duties consisted of drafting and developing complete Interior Design Construction Document packages as well as coordinating with various departments and disciplines to ensure optimal client satisfaction.

Sherry is a 2002 graduate from Virginia Tech’s CIDA accredited program with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design and a minor in Urban Affairs and Planning. While attending Virginia Tech, Harrell studied abroad in Europe and held an internship at HOK in Washington, D.C. Sherry’s vast experience and education makes her an essential member of the Shelton Taylor team.

Hannah Johnson joined Shelton Taylor & Associates in October 2015. Her role is to design the interiors of the amenity areas of multi-family projects. She handles programming requirements and space planning as well as selecting furnishings and finishes to create cohesive environments throughout the property. She also coordinates appropriate finishes for the units. After the design is finalized, she ensures the project progresses smoothly through its opening.

Before joining Shelton Taylor & Associates, Hannah worked for blackdog studio, a hospitality design firm in Atlanta, GA. During her employment there, she was responsible for developing design schemes according to hotel brand standards. She created furnishings analyses, preliminary budgets, and specification books for each project. She also managed relationships and scheduling for industry representatives.

In 2009, Hannah graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from Florida State University, a CIDA accredited program. She also passed the NCIDQ exam in 2015, earning her Interior Design license.

Angelica Maryanov joined the Shelton Taylor team in March 2018. As purchasing manager and design assistant, she aids in various departments. Her roles range from the development and maintenance of project budgets and proposals to the resolution of damages and defects during project completion. She generates purchases orders, corresponds with sales representatives, coordinates receiving and delivery with numerous warehouses, and facilitates scheduling and delivery during the installation process. She also assists the design department with assembling presentation boards, producing AutoCAD files as well as computer generated 3-D models. She also assists with the selection of finish materials, fabrics and furnishings.

Prior to joining Shelton Taylor & Associates, her experience included Senior Designer at a commercial design firm located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Angie’s predominant responsibilities in this position consisted of site visits and drafting plans in AutoCAD, rendering 3D Models in Sketch-Up, correspondence with clients and Architects, coordinating with General Contractors and Representatives for ordering and installation of Surface Materials, Furniture, and Fixtures. Also, during her time in Charlotte, Maryanov held a position as a Design Specialist with a furniture retail store. There, she was required to establish clientele, render floorplans, create presentations and design concepts for model homes. This wide-range of skills has helped make Angie a great fit for the Shelton Taylor team.

Maryanov graduated from Central Piedmont Community College in 2016 with an Associate’s Degree in Interior Design.
